A busy week in Yew Tree class!

In English, we have been getting to grips with what a suffix is and how we can use them to create different words. Lots of great terminology and application here this week so keep up the great effort Yew Tree class as we begin writing our own stories over the next couple of weeks!

In Maths, we have been exploring times and divide using arrays and pictures to help us. For each array we worked out the four number facts we could find to explain them. Next week, we will be using this understanding to tackle more complex times and divide based questions and lots more!

In PE, we have been applying what we have learnt on the floor and mats to the apparatus by exploring how to use the equipment safely and to further our understanding of balance and shape. We began with focussing on a three point balance for confidence boosting and will build up to different types of balance and shape as the term progresses.

In Science, we have been researching into what the 7 processes of life are and how we can identify these for certain animals. The children were given a selection of animals and asked to discuss and identify what each one needs to survive.

Finally, we have also been preparing for our class assembly which is at 3pm next Thursday (29th November). We would love to see you all there!

Also as a note to parents, there is a Year 3 tag rugby tournament at Okehampton College scheduled for Tuesday 27th November PM. Please can the children bring a packed lunch and have the correct PE equipment (e.g. trainers instead of plimsolls for this tournament) ready for this day. We will be back in time for normal pick up at 3:30. The weather forecast is not looking great but fingers crossed will be ok for Tuesday. If the tournament is cancelled, we will continue as if it is a normal day and make sure the children are given the opportunity to enjoy a tournament or festival in the new year.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Best wishes,

Joe Skinner and the Year 2/3 team.
