Parent, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA)
The PTFA stands for Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) of Chagford Primary School. We are here to support the children, parents and staff and raise vital funds for the school. Each year we organise events, with all money raised being ploughed back into the school. We are here to support the children, enrich the curriculum, and support the parents in simple ways such as serving refreshments at events. We always welcome new parents and their ideas!

PTFA committee consists of:
Chair – Selina Simons
Treasurer – Sue Bifani
Secretary – Dani Rout
The rest of the committee is made up of Parent members. The Committee meet on a regular basis (often in the pub), with smaller working groups meeting as necessary to organise larger more complicated events. We also try to have a monthly tea party at the school for anyone to drop in, enjoy some tea, cake and an informal chat. The dates of these are in the school newsletter or check out our blog.

How We Spend the Money We Raise – What the PTFA bought last year
All the money we raise is ploughed back into our school. The money raised last year bought: new sports equipment including a high jump mat and new PE bench; we paid for the whole school to go and see ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ at the Northcott Theatre; we gave each class teacher several hundred pounds to go towards their class trips for the year, plus petty cash to buy ad-hoc prizes, art materials etc; we bought Hot Cross Buns for all the children at the Easter service;we paid for items to support Mrs Searson’s new born chicks; heavy duty cooking utensils for the Cob Oven so we can cook gorgeous pizzas; a stereo to help with school productions and assemblies; new red ‘PTFA Helper’ t-shirts for the children so they could join in with the fundraising; two new gazebos for shade at outdoor events such as Sports Day; stickers for use in class; we purchased tea and coffee pots/flasks to serve outdoor refreshments at events.
The sort of events we organise
Last year the PTFA organised: Apple Pressing day in Autumn; the Christmas Fair with Santa; refreshments and stalls at school; Chocoholics Valentine’s Coffee Morning; Summer Fair; foyer bookstalls; Ground Force days; refreshments at Sports Day; refreshments at Year 6 Leavers afternoon.
How You Can Get Involved
Offering to help run events, bake cakes, man a stall for an hour or submit raffle prizes are just some of the ways that you can get involved. There are certain large events (such as the Summer Fete) where it is a case of ‘many hands make light work’, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis. Just helping when you can, means so much. Watch out for the PTFA meeting dates in the School Calendar. Let us know if you have any contacts or skills we could use – everything is potentially valuable to us.
PLEASE JOIN US: please add your name to our PTFA mailing list. Email Selina Simons at email@example.com
Thank you for your very valuable support!
