The children have made a great start to the term.

The picture shows text mapping of part of our new book – Varjak Paw.

Next Tuesday and the following one (30th April and 7th May) we will be having our cricket coaching sessions down at the Rec ground. If any parents would like to join us for the walk and / or the cricket session you would be most welcome. Please make sure the children have appropriate clothing – trainers, shorts or jogging bottoms, t shirt, fleece or jumper and a water proof layer. We will be outside all afternoon so please apply suncream if appropriate and ensure that they have a water bottle.

Don’t forget the small art auction happening on Friday and the Chagford Cricket Club also starts this weekend.

Happy Easter

Miss Philpott

Dear Children and Parents,

I hope you all had a lovely break and are ready for summer term.

This half-term we will be focusing on The Ancient Sumerian. This will be a cross-curricular topic and will link to our literacy unit on Varjak Paw – a Mesopotamian Blue cat. For more details about our learning do please see the jigsaw.

Miss Philpott will continue to teach all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and to start the morning on Thursdays. Miss Burnell will teach all day Wednesday and Friday and most of Thursday. Ms Rowe will be joining us on Wednesday afternoons for music – violin tuition. Mr Dray and Betsy will continue to work with us.

A few reminders:
• The children will need their full P.E. kit in school at all times as we have a number of sporting occasions happening on different days of the week.

• Numeracy homework will be set on Thursday and will be due in on the Wednesday of the following week.

• Literacy homework will be set on a Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday.

• Spellings will be set and tested every Friday.

• Can I also take this opportunity to remind you that we expect the children to read for at least fifteen minutes every day; we would like to think that they were reading for longer.
