News from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Friends

Welcome back. I hope that you have had a lovely relaxing summer and managed to find the sunshine somewhere! I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new Foundation Stage families and I look forward to seeing them around school and getting to know you all over the coming term.

‘Meet the Teachers’ sessions are happening next week where you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s new teacher and ask any questions you may have about the year ahead.

As you will have seen, the building works have started for our new school and the Kier team have been working closely with the school to ensure that the construction happens as smoothly as possible. The children have been fascinated with the ever-changing view from the playround and the diggers have been a particular attraction.

Please ensure that your children have the correct uniform and that they have a full PE kit in school at all times. Today there were some children who did not have a coat in school and this can cause an issue when it is drizzling at breaktimes. We always want to get the children out into the fresh air whenever we can so it is important that the children are well equipped for their day, whatever the weather.

After school extra curricular clubs start next week so please make sure that you have signed your child up via Libacura f they would like to stay for a club. More information about clubs can be found on the Information tab of the website.

Have a great weekend.

Stars of the week

PTFA news

Hi Everyone, our first PTFA meeting of the season will be next Thursday 14th September. At 8pm, at the Ring ‘o Bells in Chagford. We would love to see lots of new faces this year, so please do pop along to hear all about our PTFA and what we do to help raise money for our wonderful school. You can always email me at

Selina Simons. Chairman.

Just to let you know I will be returning to guitar lessons in both Moretonhampstead and Chagford Schools and for private students from Monday 18th September. This should give everyone plenty of time to settle in and for me to bask in the heat and sun of Scotland for two weeks! I’m looking forward to seeing my returning students again and teaching some new ones. I’ve played a lot of music over the summer myself at various events. Here’s a link to my band’s performance at Chagstock on that incredibly wet Friday which cleared enough for a few hundred brave souls to make our 6pm show! (for those of you who haven’t met I’m the one in the middle playing and singing). Also please check out a couple of events coming to Moretonhampstead Church soon. A return of folk duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman on Sat Sept 16th (as a school fundraiser) and then the high priest of folk guitar himself – the legendary Martin Carthy – on Friday Oct 20th. Details below. All the best with a transition to the autumn term and see you soon. Chris Back (BA Hons) Guitar TuitionRegistry of GuitarTutors (RGT) Member01647 440155  /  07981 957232
