Dear Parents and Friends
It has been a beautiful week and the trees are changing colours almost minute by minute. This week has been seen the first sporting competition for us as a school to enter with both Netball and Football teams attending the North Tawton Tournament today. It was a fantastic event and the children represented Chagford exceptionally well. The weather was kind and the fellow competitors were sporting but keen to achieve their best and bring the trophies home. The footballers played well as a team, improving greatly throughout the day, finished in fourth place and qualifiers into the next round of the competition. However the Netball team shone throughout the day, working so well as a team with good leadership and positive encouragement from Jess and Daisy R. The team won the overall tournament and brought back the trophy to be displayed in our sporting trophy cabinet – thanks team; you made Mrs Wiseman and Tina very proud. Don’t forget we have matches on Monday at Okehampton College All weather pitch against Hatherleigh Primary.
Have a good weekend.

PARENT SIMS – We have updated our information on consents around photographs in SIMS Parent Lite. Our revised information is:
- Photos in media From time to time, it’s great to showcase the achievements of our pupils. This could be on the school blog, or local press, which may be print media or internet media. Our general principles of sharing photographs are never to publish a pupil’s last name. If a contact person is needed for a project, this will be the teacher, not the pupil. If class pictures are posted, it may mention names but not where individuals are standing in the picture. Class pictures will generally include at least three or more students. If individual pictures are posted of pupils it will not include their name.
- Photos in school: We may take photos to support our assessment and monitoring of pupils’ learning. These are never shared with third parties where a data sharing agreement is not in place. This consent allows us to put these photos on display in our school corridors and notice boards.
Please ensure you have updated your consents in Parent Lite accordingly. It’s important that we hold accurate and up to date information. If you have not yet logged into Parent Lite, please contact the school office who will be happy to help.

Following the meeting at the Ring of Bells a couple of weeks ago and last weeks meet with Liz Wiseman, the PTFA has a clearer direction of what everyone would like to achieve. There are certain events which we would like to run which we know the children enjoy and if these make money for the school in return then that is even better! The first event is a Halloween Party on Wednesday 31st October in the School Hall 4- 5:30. Also this term will be Santa at the late night shopping, Christmas Fair at the school and providing refreshments at the School Christmas performance, all dates of those to be confirmed. Date of next meeting is Sunday 14th October, 8pm, Ring of Bells.
If you can’t make it but would like views put forward then please get in touch with one of us. Claire Northmore
Just to remind you that Tennis Coaching is on every Saturday up at the play park – (except 6th October as coach is away on hols) at the following times. We have a wonderful, fun new coach Nick – and he is hoping to encourage lots of youngsters to play tennis. This week (due to alternative entertainment in Jubilee Hall!) – it will be on at:
11 am 5-8 year olds –
12pm 8+ year olds.
If there are 4 year olds in school then they are also welcome at 11 am, but not pre-school children please.
We would request that the parents/guardians of under 8’s remain at the clubhouse, where there is self service tea and coffee available, and at least one or two parents stay for the later session (dependent on numbers). On 13th October there is a free session for all ages. So please grab a friend and come up and have a go. (Usually £5 per child per session) If you have any queries, please do give me – Jackie Browne 01647 231055 a call.
