Dear Parents,

This week we had both the Dartmoor Cup at Lewdown Cricket Club and the Weaver Cross Country at Willey Farm. Both were great fun with a fantastic outcome for Chagford School. Our players have written a sports report.

On Thursday, Chagford went to the Dartmoor Cup to play some cricket. Chagford A team had a great time and won all of their matches, this means we will be going to the finals!  In the final match, it was a very low scoring and there were a lot of wickets and a lot of good bowling from both sides. It was the last over, Henry was bowling and Toby was behind the wickets. The ball was bowled and went little behind him and it came to Toby, I hit the wicket! Chagford had won first place in the competition. Big, smiling faces on the was home. By Toby

On Thursday 24th May the A and the B cricket team went to Lewdown for a cricket tournament. The B team were excited to play. We won our first match by quite a lot. Our Second match was close but we did win 40 to 30 runs. The third match we won, with lots of fours, sixes and some stumps. the fourth match was hard as we were against Bridestow A team and they were very good and won. The matches were very close and we came third in our overall group. We won three matches and lost two. Chagford A team came first over all winning all their matches. By Daisy R

So we had a great day and only lost 2 games but played 5. The first game we played we won 204-350 and it was a great game. The second game we 3played against Bowsleigh Cross B team and it was such an intense game but we won 255-263. The last game we played before lunch was against South Tawton C team and we won by 7 runs.

After lunch we played Bridestow A team and lost by only 8 runs and it was a great game. We lost our final game but we came third in our group so we go into the next round and Chagford A won their group 214 – 237 against South Tawton A team.

Weaver Cup report by Sophia

At the start we all walked around the course which was 1.4 miles around Willey farm, Sticklepath. Then it was time for the actual place, Ben W came in first place with a time of 9.10 minutes and Daisy R came in  second place around twenty seconds after Ben. Henry placed third and then fourth place was a student from South Tawton Primary. I came in fifth place with Barnaby in seventh. With such great results we took home the Weaver cup after ten years!
