News from the Head teacher

Dear Parents and Friends

This week feels like the ‘calm before the storm’ with Christmas Shows about to begin casting and rehearsal of songs from the show already. It is almost impossible to think that we will be celebrating this festive season very soon but the children will certainly not forget! We will be letting you know what parts your children will have by the end of next week so that you can make arrangements for costumes and props. Any offers of help for drawing and painting the backdrop would be really appreciated; I know that there is lots of talented artists out there and we would certainly appreciate the skill input over the next few weeks. If you think that you could help please contact the school office and they will make sure that Miss Rowe or Miss Philpott make contact with you to talk about the task in hand. As we have a fantastic new building and school hall, we will be hosting our Christmas Show here onsite this year. Rehearsing with the children will be much easier based at school and it will be great to actually make the most of what we have in our own facilities. The PTFA will be supporting us in refreshments for each performance as usual and I am sure that we will be in for a magical show from your most talented children. I hope that you will be able to join us on Thursday 20th December for either the afternoon or evening performance. Details to follow and ticket issue.

This week saw the netball and football teams playing against Okehampton Primary School. As usual these are always hard matches and all the children demonstrated our Chagford resilience, even in the face of defeat. Both football teams lost their matches however they will have gained a lot from the experience which Craig will use to strengthen their performance next time, I am sure. The netball teams played really well with the A team drawing 2-2 and the B team losing 3-0. I was particularly pleased with those individual performances of pupils who had never even stepped onto a netball court until Monday night and how they quickly adapted. It is tricky at the moment in Chagford School as we do not have a football field or a netball court to practice on with the demolition of the old school about to start however we are still working on our skills in training each session and these were very evident in the games this week. Well done everyone.

Have a fantastic weekend despite the rain forecast.

Liz Wiseman
