With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018, schools will have new requirements around the way they use pupil and parent data.Next week, we will be launching to parents the SIMS Parent Lite app which will provide a simple way to collect, manage and handle information by obtaining accurate data securely from parents.

Available on iOS, Android and a browser, the SIMS Parent Lite app provides a convenient and accessible solution for parents to electronically review and request changes to the data held on them and their children. It will allow users to use an existing email account to login. You will be able to provide additional information on crucial details such as medical information or dietary requirements, using the text information function, ensuring that personal information not previously held in SIMS is collected. When a change request is submitted by you, automatic emails are sent to the school office. Administrators are able to view previous requests and details of any action taken via the audit trail within SIMS.

From time to time, we will send notifications to remind you to update your child’s details, eliminating paper based data collection and manual errors.

More details will follow next week. It is essential that you access your child’s data in this way to ensure we always have accurate and up to date information about your child. If you have any questions please ask the school office.

Thanks to all those parents who have been using the Gateway for clubs and keeping up to date with payments. Please note that all cancellations or changes to bookings can be notified to the school office by email to parents@chagford-primary.devon.sch.uk. Unfortunately, while the new system is good, it’s not perfect – and this feature is in line for future development at present. Please continue to book and pay for clubs using the system. Any outstanding balances from Libacura have now been transferred to the School Gateway so if you see a charge on your account you were not expecting, this could relate to a single breakfast or after school club booking made some time ago. Please contact the school office who can clarify with you any queries you may have, so we can update the system accordingly. With the end of the school team next week please make sure to pay all arrears, including any school dinners.

Please download the free app as this saves vital funds for the school in the cost of text messages.
