Dear Parents and Friends
I hope that you are all having a good snow day and again I can only apologise for having to make the decision to close the school today to ensure everyone’s safety. Unfortunately the planned KS2 trip to Exeter for the Bournemouth Symphony had to be cancelled however coach money collected will be reimbursed in due course. We were sorry that this opportunity for our pupils has passed us by due to the weather however there will be plenty more creative ventures over this coming year.
As a school we have registered with the Arts Council Arts Mark to begin to recognise the creative curriculum opportunities that we as a school already offer to our pupils and to gain the arts mark of Bronze, Silver and eventually Gold over the next year. This journey should help to maintain our drive to includes the arts into our curriculum planning and to show off the work we are successfully providing as a school. Please follow the link below to find out more about this project. After Easter we will be holding an auction of Artists work in the form of postcards to raise money towards the arts curriculum and an arts week in the summer term, so watch this space for further information as the date is confirmed.
It has been an interesting week with the limited numbers of children in school towards the end of the week however life carried on as normal as possible and plenty of teaching and learning happened across the school. Unfortunately Yew Class Collective Worship had to be postponed due to the lack of pupils and the need to allow pupils to return home safely on Thursday. This will be rearranged.
On Monday our netball and football teams competed against North Tawton with enthusiasm and skill. Match reports to follow next week when all the pupils are back in school. These were the last matches of the year and I would like to thank both Craig and Tina for their ongoing support for our children. I could not do this with out you and it is gratefully appreciated. It has been particularly difficult this year without the outdoor spaces and creative thinking has definitely been in demand on how to teach the children match play without the means of any sports pitches or courts. However despite this we have competed extremely well, reaching the West Devon Finals in both netball and football and learned how to manage the disappointment of losing as well as winning! Well done to you all for this season.
Have a great weekend. Happy sledging!
