Well done Grasshoppers for such a hard-working fun week back! The Monster Mash on Monday was full of great moves. Cats, monsters, skeletons and vampires all appeared on Tuesday; you looked splendid! Today we are thinking about the celebration this weekend and particularly about how to keep safe. A poster should be coming home telling you about this.

In maths this week we have been thinking about time – learning a chant for the months of the year; singing our days of the week song to help us remember the order of the days; timing activities to give us an idea of how long a minute is – a very long time when you are jumping for a whole minute; solving time puzzles, such as – if Mr. Dray takes 30 minutes to drive to school and Mrs. Wiseman takes 10 minutes to drive to school, whose journey is longer? How much longer is it? and playing Stand Up, Sit Down for times which are longer or shorter than 1 day, such as 1 year, 1 minute, I hour, 1 week. Please have some fun with these activities at home.

In literacy we are enjoying our new focus text: Dino Dinners. This book gives us facts about dinosaurs but also has each dinosaur talking to us – a device which the children like very much. We shall be using the text to think about writing in the first and third person and to think about using the past tense. ‘Food’ is our new project and we shall continue learning new facts about our bodies too.

Today a time capsule is being buried in the foundations for our new school. The children have written their thoughts about school and aspirations for the future on post-it notes which will go into the time capsule.

Next week we have parents evenings. I look forward to meeting with you then.

Wishing you a safe and happy weekend.
