Please subscribe to our newsletters and class blogs – they really are the best way to keep up to date with what is happening in and around the school, including curriculum information, notification of trips or clubs, and what is happening in your child’s class. Home School Diary
All children have a home school diary which encourages regular communication between teachers and parents (communication ranges from spellings and achievements). Messages are written in this book and it is also used to record daily reading, comments and book titles. Many teachers also use it to record weekly spellings, as well as using it to communicate praise and achievements often in the form of stickers.
This is a free service which allows the school to send you a variety of information and messages, via email and SMS. We encourage parents to download the app (if you have a smartphone) as this means the school saves money! Details on any school closure during adverse weather is particularly helpful for parents and carers. We are only able to keep in touch with parents if contact details up to date! If you need to amend your details please contact the school office. To register, please click on the SchoolGateway link on the homepage.
Please visit our About / Our Governors page for information about our governing body. Each member of our governing body has a particular association with a class and can be contacted via their email address on the Governors page. Our governing body endeavour to attend class events where possible, and you will often see our governors in and around the school. Please do raise any concerns or issues with them. The governing body reviews parental feedback on an ongoing basis, as well as annually through our parent and pupil questionnaires.
Annual Parent Questionnaire
Each summer term, we ask parents to complete an online questionnaire to gauge how well we met your expectations based on what you told us in the previous year and to help inform our school improvement plan.

Our PTFA is very active, and provide a wonderful means of support and fun for the children at the school. The PTFA really benefits from having a large bank of volunteers to draw on, as well as a dedicated, hard working committee. We liaise with the PTFA to help us plan fun things for the children, such as new play equipment, trips to the theatre, and resources for our Thrive room. Please see the About/ Our PTFA tab for more information.
We hold formal parent’s consultation evenings twice a year – in October and in February, at which you can discuss your child’s progress and targets. However, class teachers are always happy to make themselves available by appointment, or at the start of the school day if urgent to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning.
Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school.Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. You will have to register to use the site the first time, then you can update your views as often as you wish. You will also be able to see what other parents think about the school. Ofsted will use this information when they prepare to inspect our school. Click here to visit the Parentview website
We hope that early conversation with our staff will resolve any concerns or complaints you may have, however, if you do wish to make a formal complaint, our Complaints Policy can be found under the About/ Our Policies tab of the website.

Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust
Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust
On the 1st January 2018, Chagford Church or England Primary School and Preschool joined the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust. This followed a period of consultation with the school and local community. The Dartmoor MAT is a newly formed trust is one of the largest ever formed in the South West and is responsible for over 5,000 pupils & students and 750 staff in fifteen school sites. The MAT has been organised in five geographical clusters to ensure that local governance and accountability remain strong- each cluster will retain its own governing board. It is felt likely that additional schools might want to join the MAT in the future and the cluster arrangement will make that possible.
In addition to Chagford Primary School and Preschool the schools involved are: Okehampton College, Tavistock College, North Tawton Primary, Holsworthy Community College, Okehampton Primary School and Foundation Unit, Boasley Cross Community Primary School, Black Torrington Church of England Primary School, Bradford Primary School, Bridestowe Primary School, Bridgerule Church of England Primary School, Exbourne Church of England Primary School, Lydford Primary School, Northlew and Ashbury Parochial Church of England Primary School and South Tawton Primary School and Preschool. Highampton Primary School will join the Trust later this year.
Chagford Primary School is part of a cluster of schools with South Tawton and North Tawton. The three schools have a single governing board.
