Caterpillars – Week 4
We’ve been here, there and everywhere this week in Caterpillars class!
Starting with our English, we have created some amazing stories about a toy’s adventures! The children have been description kings and queens and used so many fantastic word choices in their independent writing so well done Caterpillars!
In Maths, we have come to the end of our focus on shape and my word we know a lot about geometry now! From perimeter and the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, to understanding what symmetry and perpendicular/parallel lines are we have learnt so much! Next week we are going to finish our work on perimeter before jumping into fractions and how this relates to sharing/division!
On Wednesday, the Year 3’s had a brilliant time at the Gymnastics festival at Okehampton College and were excellent representatives of the school as they supported each other and tried their best. Well done Year 3!
While the Year 3’s were away the Year 2’s stayed with myself and we had a lovely time exploring habitats with Chantelle and the year 2’s and the Year 4’s joined us as well which was a lovely opportunity. We then had a go at some coding in Computing by designing our own mazes for programmable robots and challenged our friends to figure out the order of instructions (an algorithm) on how to get out of the maze. Lots of cross year group collaboration and logical thinking so well done to all involved!
We have also had a lovely visit from Reverend Paul to talk about the Bible. We invited Paul in to share with us why the Bible is so important to Christians and to share how the Bible came to be all those years ago. The children had also come up with some excellent questions to discuss with Paul such as, ‘Who was the first Christian?’ and ‘Why was Jesus so special?’ A big thank you to Paul for coming in and sharing all he knows!
Finally, we have been learning more about making healthy friendships in preparation for our Class assembly next Thursday 1st February at 3:00pm. We hope to see you there!
Next week we are looking forward to our class assembly, learning more about Hawaii and exploring fractions!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Joe Skinner and the Year 2/3 team.
