A warm welcome back and well done to Caterpillars class on completing an excellent first week back at school!
We’ve certainly had an excellent week getting to know each other and meeting new and old friends.
In maths we’re getting stuck in with some place value work and learning more about how numbers are read and ordered. Next week we’re going to be extending what we know once more and comparing numbers, solving problems and exploring how bigger numbers work as well.
In English, we’ve started exploring our new sequence focus on ‘No-Bot: The Robot with no Bottom’ by Sue Hendra. We’ve certainly enjoyed reading Bernard the robot’s story and discussing with our friends all our favourite parts!
In the afternoons we have been playing lots of team building games and creating different pieces of work for our Caterpillars time capsule. We have put in a selection of pieces, measured how tall we are and created some artwork on our favourite things so we can see how much we’ve grown and changed when we re-open the time capsule next July. The children are very excited indeed!
Next week we are looking forward to starting our new topic on ‘Our Bodies’ and continuing our work in English and Maths. There will also be a ‘Meet the Teacher’ drop-in session for any parents who would like to pop in on Wednesday 13th September (Next week) from 3pm in Caterpillars class. If you’re unable to make this session please don’t hesitate to drop me an email or catch me before or after school should you want to chat with myself or the school. For any questions about the new term and timetabling, please see the Jigsaw and timetable attached below.
Finally we’d like to say a huge well done to Caterpillars class for a wonderful start to the new term and we hope you all have a good rest and get ready for the week ahead!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Joe Skinner and the Year 2/3 team.
