After 4 weeks of finding out and talking about the amount of plastic that ends up in the sea, polluting the water and endangering sealife, our grand finale was our Load of Old Rubbish Fashion Show! We had so fun creating our outfits from the deluge of plastic brought in. You’ll be pleased to hear that we will be recycling the remainder of the plastic appropriately – oh apart from the wonderful outfits that you currently are treasuring at home! We do have some film of the assembly if you missed it.
Also this week the children have been designing posters about Plastic in the Sea. They worked in small groups and used a variety of media and materials to create pictures of fish being trapped under plastic and tangled up in plastic and eating plastic. The posters are now displayed around the school to remind everyone to do their bit.
Next term we will be continuing our Sealife theme and starting the term by looking at the Kraken; at the request of the children! Each child has been given a piece of home learning for the holidays; finding out something about the Kraken.
For those with their High Frequency Word books in this week, new words have been added to practice over the half term.
Have a great half term and see you at the top of Meldon on Monday!
