Happy New Year to you all.
We’ve had an exciting and really interesting start to the new year.
Wednesday we got to grips with a new system of doing lunch and all went really well. This half term Beetles are the last class to get dinner (the advantage is that it is more likely that there will be seconds) – don’t worry, it’s only 10 minutes later than they were eating last half term (but a healthy snack for break time is still helpful).
Thursday we started our new book in literacy ‘Are Humans Damaging the Atmosphere?’. We had excellent discussions as we discovered what the atmosphere is and how it is changing. We then started our science topic on forces and made spinners. How could we adapt them so that they took the longest time possible to reach the floor?
Friday we continued to explore the atmosphere (as well as really big numbers) and tried to discover a little about the Maya people of Central America although a powercut made this challenging! We did enjoy our Sitting Volleyball though.
1.New spellings to learn – they will help us with our writing project.
2. Keep reading.
3. Check out our class blog – newsletter and jigsaw will appear this weekend.
4. Imagine that an alien has just landed on earth. They have a translator so that they can understand English but they don’t know anything about life here. They ask you to explain what Christmas is. What would you tell them? How would you explain the different things that you do?
5. Invite your grown-ups to Collective Worship on Thursday at 3pm.
