Happy Advent everyone!

Beech class are soldiering on despite lots of coughs and colds. Well done everyone!

This week we have been finding out about fractions in maths, investigating halves of shapes, amounts and numbers. Any practical experiences linked in with this at home would be very helpful! Next week we are learning more about ordinal numbers and we have a focus on number bonds, particularly how number bonds to 10 can help us with more complicated calculations. For example, if you know that 8 add 2 =10, this can help you work out 18 add 2.

In literacy we have been enjoying the Christmas story and have made our own individual books retelling the story in our own words. Next week we will be finding out about Hanukkah. We will also be writing to Father Christmas. He must be very busy at the moment!

On Thursday 6th it is our class assembly at 3:00pm in the school hall. We hope you can come.

Other dates for your diary include school Christmas dinner on Thursday 13th December; Save the Children Christmas Jumpers Day and our school Christmas Fayre on Friday 14th December; our school Christmas Show on Thursday 20th December and our school Christmas service in the church at 2:00pm on Friday 21st December.

Beech class are going to be Victorian toys in the Christmas Show. We will be writing letters home to you about this next Friday so please keep a look out for these letters. We will be choosing from a selection of toys including wooden soldiers, jack-in-the-boxes, musical boxes, rag dolls, china dolls and spinning tops. We will be asking you if you can help us with putting together costumes once we’ve each chosen what we would like to be. I hope this will be alright.

Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend!
